GEOGRAPHIC/CULTURAL
Country/Kingdom: Braiye
Capital city: Heblya
Other cities of note: Immina, Calmeche Oxbow, Heamyock, Silkside

Braiye is a sizable kingdom south of the Edge of the World. The Edge's tundra tapers in to a narrow channel of jagged pinnacles that feed directly in to Braiye's northernmost borders. This funnel of land serves as one of the Edge's only means of access to the rest of the continent, and for generations now, ownership of the channel has been a contentious issue between Braiye and the Edge. Tension and bloodshed seem to have peaked within the last decade.

Further south, though, is peaceful. Craggy mountains calm in to rolling hills, where greenery begins to flourish. The growth thickens dramatically towards Heblya- the capital city at the heart of Braiye. This area is untouched by the stress and the never-ending chill of the nothern cities, though it is disorienting in its own way. The heart-forests of Braiye are heavy and ancient, where vines and massive knotted trees twist together. The landscape holds an otherworldly, fairy-tale quality. It's looming and enchanting.

The area can be difficult terrain for those unaccustomed to hills, scowles, ravines, waterfalls, and sinkholes. Many travelers, even those born in the woods, have been lost to the complicated forest. Thankfully, Heblya serves as an anchor for wanderers to steady themselves. Years of gradual expansion have thinned out the trees around Heblya, and the city itself is now a metropolis. The "old" inner city is surrounded by tall stone walls. This used to serve as the border for the entire settlement, though due to growth, much of the capital has spilled over and now stretches across the land outside the walls.

Life is, overall, easy and privileged. Most citizens enjoy the benefits of fertile land, good health, education and apprenticeship opportunities, and some degree of running water/indoor plumbing. Heblya's economy is thriving, supported mainly by their sales of wood, leather goods, perfumes, iron, wines/ales, and a variety of furs and meat from native wildlife.

IDRIS GREMYR
FATHER Asar Gremyr (m, A)
MOTHER Noryas Liesq* [now Gremyr] (m, O)
SIBLINGS
--Idris Gremyr (m, A)
Isah Gremyr (f, A)
Iliam Gremyr* [now Ebrel] (m, O)

Idris has lived a charmed life. Through all of his twenty-some-odd years, his home city of Heblya has been prosperous and suffered little calamity, though that isn't to say Idris has not been prepared for hardship. Since birth, he has been crafted by a plethora of tutors, advisors, and generals to fit seamlessly in to his role as a future ruler. He has been educated in foreign languages, politics, trade, battle, and so on- theoretically, Idris should be able to adequately handle himself and his kingdom against nearly any obstacle.

For the handful of years that he has ruled, he has done exactly that. Heblya's golden era has continued, and he has kept a close eye on Braiye's northern borders, bolstering the strongholds there with supplies and fresh reinforcements. Generally, Idris has a decent sense of what to do and when to do it... But he is, of course, only human. His downfall is often his attitude- while not hostile or abusive, he could do with a bit of refining at times. His temper is easily stoked, which leaves him crabby and with a tongue that speaks a little more freely than it should. This, combined with his stubborn nature and occasional disregard for impulse control, can be particularly aggravating for his advisors.

In all, though, he is a good-natured person who pushes for the best- for himself, and for his people.

Of his surviving family, only his younger brother has stayed near. Asar arranged Iliam's marriage during his rule, gifting him to a favored general. Since then, Iliam has remained in Heblya with his mate. Idris' sister, Isah, recently negotiated herself in to a clever union with a foreign noble. She relocated, and acts as a liaison between their two kingdoms. Noryas, feeling no particular need to stay in Heblya's castle after Asar's death, retired to a smaller, more coastal property.

All three siblings share the same honey-gold eyes, thick lashes, and rich, dark brown hair. Idris' in particular is short and smooth, generally appearing neat without much fuss required. His face, on the other hand, is a different story- he's been known to skip a few shaves, letting his stubble and scruff ride for a while before removal. He is olive-toned, often some degree of tanned, and built solid and thick as he does not stay idle.
